RAWALPINDI:

Students of Government Girls Associate College Jetha Hathial, Rawalpindi, have erupted in protest against an influential ruling party Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), who is also the owner of a major housing society.

Female students and their mothers have sent written complaints, bearing names and signatures, to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Education Department, while also lodging complaints on the Chief Minister's Complaint Portal, seeking immediate notice of the matter.

Twenty-five students of the college, whose names are included in the letters, stated in strong terms that the influential MPA has been pressuring and harassing the college administration to forcibly hold his functions within the college premises.

They alleged that his reputation is questionable and that inappropriate individuals accompany him, causing severe distress among students.

The complainants said the students are mentally disturbed, while their parents are deeply worried.

They stressed that this is a girls' college and no MPA should be allowed to use it for recreational or political purposes.

They further alleged that the college principal is under extreme political pressure and threats, is fearful, and is seeking a transfer. According to the complaint, if any event is held without making the MPA the chief guest, threats of serious consequences are issued, and even invited guests are intimidated.

The students demanded immediate intervention to resolve the issue, warning that otherwise a large number of students would be forced to quit the college.
