The family of actor Tommy Lee Jones has released a statement following the death of his daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, who died at the age of 34 on New Year’s Day.

Victoria was found unresponsive at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco in the early hours of January 1. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2:52 a.m., where police and medics attempted life-saving measures.

She was pronounced dead at the location. Authorities have confirmed that the cause of death remains under investigation and that no foul play is currently suspected.

In a statement shared through People, the Jones family said, “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

Victoria was the daughter of Tommy Lee Jones and photographer Kimberlea Cloughley, who were married from 1981 to 1996. She appeared alongside her father in Men in Black II in 2002 and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada in 2005, and later had a guest role on One Tree Hill. She subsequently stepped away from acting and lived largely out of the public eye.

An interview from 2006 has resurfaced in which Jones spoke about working with his daughter on set, recalling her fluency in Spanish and her confidence during filming.

The anecdote included a moment where he said he had “fired” her for missing an early call time before she was brought to set by the crew.

Dispatch audio obtained by People indicates the incident may be linked to a suspected overdose, with paramedics noting “colour change” during the emergency call. Officials have stated that they are awaiting findings from the medical examiner.

Victoria is survived by her parents, her brother Austin Jones, and extended family members. Fans have shared condolences online, with many expressing sympathy for the family and noting her age at the time of her death.
