ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has vehemently defended the 26th and the 27th Constitutional Amendments, claiming that the tweaks to the Constitution have begun to bear fruit.

Addressing the Rawalpindi Bar Association, the minister said the creation of the FCC — through the 27th amendment — has strengthened the federation as it has ensured balanced representation from all provinces.

He questioned the basis of criticisms against the amendments, arguing that a 13-member FCC with equitable representation from the four provinces plus one judge from Islamabad promotes greater unity, transparency and fairness in the judicial system.
