Young woman riding bike killed by trailer
Second female biker to die in recent months

A young woman riding a motorcycle was crushed to death by a high-speed container-laden trailer near Landhi Hospital Chowrangi on Friday morning, triggering violent protest by onlookers who gathered at the scene after the deadly crash.
While many women have died in motorcycle accidents riding pillion, only a few have been killed while driving the two-wheeler.
Per reports, a school teacher was killed driving a scooty when a speeding car hit her from behind in November last year. The fatality on Friday was second incident involving a female biker.
Muhammad Ali Shah, SHO of Quaidabad police station, identified the victim as 26-year-old Bushra, a resident of Okara district of Punjab. He added that a manhunt was ongoing for the trailer driver, who had managed to escape the scene. The impact of the collision left the motorcycle severely damaged.
Police shifted the body to JPMC for legal formalities where the victim's relatives told media persons that Bushra worked at a used-clothing factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone. They added that she had been riding motorcycles since her childhood.
The bereaved family called for justice, urging police to hold the trailer in custody until they could return from Bushra's burial in Okara. They also demanded that legal action be taken following the funeral.
Separately, a 40-year-old man was killed in a road accident in the precinct of Iqbal Market police station. The accident happened near Zaitoon Madrassa, Hawa Goth, in Sector 11½, Orangi Town.
According to police, the man was hit by a heavy vehicle late at night. Initial reports suggest that the victim may have been a drug addict, as no identification was found at the scene. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, and later shifted to the Edhi morgue.
