Murder convict killed after release

LAHORE:

A murder convict who had recently been released was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Okara, prompting police to launch a manhunt.

According to Okara police, Gulshan alias Ghachi was killed in a targeted attack. The district police officer (DPO) ordered the formation of three teams to arrest the killers.

Police officials said the deceased had a criminal record. He had been convicted in a murder case and had served a life sentence.

The victim was allegedly involved in around 20 cases, including those of highway robbery. A team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency collected evidence from the crime scene.

Police confirmed that legal proceedings had been initiated and assured that all possible measures were being taken to arrest those involved at the earliest.
