Man dies in house fire

LAHORE:

A 48-year-old man was killed in a house fire that broke out in the early hours of Wednesday in Ichra area.

According to Rescue 1122, the fire was reported at around 3:07am when a call was received at the Rescue Command and Control Centre.

Emergency teams were dispatched to the site near Chowk Baba Azam, where the fire had broken out. Rescue officials said the fire engulfed a room of the house, resulting in the death of a resident, Usman.

He suffered severe burn injuries and died before he could be shifted to a hospital.

Family members told rescuers that Usman had been suffering from mental health issues.

According to their initial account, he allegedly set fire to the room and went to sleep, which led to the fatal incident.
