Price hikes continue as inflation peaks

The district administration and 60 district price control magistrates appear completely helpless in controlling inflation, as prices of vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, bakery items, sugar and flour have surged sharply.
In the open market, chicken meat is being sold at Rs650 per kg, eggs at Rs365 per dozen, mutton at Rs2,400 per kg, beef at Rs1,600 per kg, milk at Rs220 per litre, yogurt at Rs240 per kg, white chickpeas at Rs430 per kg, red beans at Rs400 per kg, gram lentils at Rs350 per kg, mash lentils at Rs550 per kg, and potatoes at Rs100 per kg.
Meanwhile, onions are being sold at Rs120 per kg, tomatoes at Rs100 per kg, capsicum at Rs150 per kg, peas at Rs170 per kg, bitter gourd at Rs130 per kg, carrots at Rs100 per kg, radish at Rs80 per kg, cucumber at Rs100 per kg, garlic at Rs350 per kg and ginger at Rs500 per kg.
