D4vd likely to face murder indictment in Celeste Rivas death investigation

D4vd is expected to face murder charges after Rivas' remains were found in his Tesla in September

Singer D4vd is expected to face murder charges in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose remains were discovered in his abandoned car more than a year after she was reported missing.

Celeste Rivas was last reported missing on April 5, 2024, when she was 13 years old. Investigators noted that this was not the first time she had left her home. She remained missing for nearly a year until September 8, 2025, when decomposed remains were found inside a vehicle belonging to D4vd.

According to investigators, the Tesla owned by the singer had been abandoned in August and was ticketed for parking violations on September 3. Authorities impounded the vehicle on September 5. A foul smell reportedly led officers to open the front trunk, where the remains were discovered.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, officials were unable to determine the exact date or cause of Celeste’s death. Investigators have stated that the examination could not establish how long the body had been in the vehicle.

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was considered a person of interest in the case and subsequently cancelled all scheduled tours. Sources familiar with the investigation have said that Celeste and the singer were allegedly in a relationship, a claim that has drawn further scrutiny from authorities.

A grand jury began hearing evidence in November, and sources now indicate that an indictment on murder charges is likely. D4vd’s manager, Robert Morgenroth, testified for several days during the proceedings. While details of the testimony remain confidential, sources have claimed that investigators believe multiple individuals may have been involved in the dismemberment of the body.
