LAHORE:

A 22-year-old motorcyclist suffered a neck injury in Green Town and was admitted to Jinnah Hospital.

The injured man, Owais, was going to work when he was injured. He was provided first aid and admitted to the surgical ward of Jinnah Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.

Lahore police clarified that preliminary investigations did not support claims that the injury had been caused by kite string.

A spokesperson for the Lahore DIG operations stated, "The injured individual was not hurt due to a kite string," adding that string had not been found at the site of the incident.

Police said the injured man had given contradictory statements regarding the injury. "In one account, he claimed he was injured by a friend, while in another he stated that a kite string had caused the wound," the spokesperson said.

According to the police, the injured man is allegedly a drug addict and old marks of injuries caused by sharp-edged objects were also found on his body.

"All available evidence does not confirm the kite string narrative," the spokesperson said, adding that the case was being examined from all angles.

The police said legal action would be taken once the facts were fully established.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said Lahore police had registered 1,850 cases against illegal kite flying so far this year.

"There is zero tolerance for those who endanger citizens' lives," he said, adding that police remained fully active in their campaign to curb illegal kite flying across the city.
