A new Lego set based on Minas Tirith from The Lord of the Rings is rumoured to be in development, with early details pointing to one of the largest and most expensive releases in the company’s history.

According to Brick Tap, Lego is planning to launch the Minas Tirith set on June 1 2026. The report claims the set will be priced between $600 and $650 and include 8,278 pieces. If accurate, this would place it among the largest Lego sets ever produced.

The model is said to depict the city of Gondor as seen in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films, featuring the tiered white city built into the side of a mountain.

From the front, the structure is expected to resemble a detailed miniature version of Minas Tirith, designed primarily for display rather than play.

Brick Tap reports that the set would become the sixth-largest Lego set by piece count, sitting just behind the recently released Star Wars Death Star. It would also significantly exceed the existing Lord of the Rings Rivendell set, which contains several thousand fewer pieces.

The rumoured set is also expected to include ten minifigures: Gandalf the White, Aragorn, Pippin, Denethor, Faramir, four Gondor soldiers and Shadowfax.

While the figures represent the defenders of the city, Brick Tap notes that antagonists are absent. A separate Lord of the Rings Barad-dûr set is currently available but sold independently.

Some fans have suggested that this release could indicate renewed long-term interest from Lego in The Lord of the Rings theme, potentially leading to additional sets in the future.
