At the Red Sea Film Festival, Jessica Alba candidly reflected on one of her earliest major roles, playing Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, in the 2005 Fantastic Four film, and revealed that a particular scene left her feeling deeply uncomfortable and emotionally shaken for weeks.

Alba, now 44, looked back nearly 20 years later on the infamous bridge moment in Fantastic Four where Sue Storm must strip down in order to become invisible in front of a crowd. “I thought that was awful,” she told the audience, describing the experience as “very humiliating in real life.”

The actress explained that because she “grew up with a pretty conservative family” and considers herself “a pretty modest person,” that scene was especially difficult for her to shoot. “I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days,” she said, capturing just how emotionally challenging the process was for her at the time.

Despite the discomfort she felt, Alba made it clear that the awkwardness of that one scene doesn’t define her memories of the role. She spoke warmly about her admiration for Sue Storm as a character, praising her for breaking gender norms in a genre where women were often sidelined or written with less depth.

“She was a woman I looked up to,” Alba said, highlighting that her character was “very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind. She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her.”

Alba’s reflections come as she continues to celebrate her career at major film events, balancing honesty about the past with pride in the roles that helped shape her journey.

Though she hasn’t watched the latest Fantastic Four reboot, joking that her children’s movie preferences usually dictate family movie night, she’s expressed interest in seeing how the character she once portrayed is reimagined for today’s audiences.

Her comments offer a thoughtful perspective on how even iconic moments in Hollywood can come with personal challenges, reminding fans that actresses often face intense emotional and cultural pressures behind the scenes.
