This Christmas marked a deeply emotional milestone for TV host and media personality Ryan Seacrest as he navigated the first holiday season since the October death of his father, Gary Lee Seacrest, after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Rather than retreat from the season, Seacrest chose to celebrate with family while openly honoring his father’s legacy, capturing the moment with an emotional post on social media. “First Christmas without Dad, but holding him close in all the ways we can,” he wrote, adding, “We miss you. Merry Heavenly Christmas.”
In photos shared alongside his message, Seacrest and his loved ones gathered around a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, wearing festive pajamas and celebrating in a way that reflected both joy and loss.
The tribute came just a day after Seacrest marked his 51st birthday on December 24, another first without his father, which he acknowledged with warmth and humor, sharing moments of celebration with family.
“We’ll keep our traditions of making a Caesar salad that he always used to love to do,” he said, and “pour a little glass of red wine, his favorite, and toast to him.” He emphasised that despite the sadness, “it’ll be a special Christmas,” showing how deeply his father’s influence shaped their holiday customs.
