Former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase is facing renewed concern after his former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide co-star Daniel Curtis Lee said a motel room he arranged for him was severely damaged within hours.

Chase, who played Martin Qwerly on the series, was recently identified living unhoused in Riverside, California, after a TikTok video showed him dishevelled and sleeping on the streets. The footage prompted widespread attention and led several former colleagues to attempt to support him.

Daniel Curtis Lee, who portrayed Cookie on the show, said he travelled around 50 miles from Los Angeles to Riverside after seeing the video. With poor weather approaching, he bought Chase a meal and paid for a motel room to provide temporary shelter. Initial interactions appeared positive, with videos showing the two talking and embracing.

On Christmas Day 2025, Lee shared an update stating that motel staff contacted him hours later with reports of significant damage. According to Lee, the door to the room had been left open, the refrigerator was turned upside down, and the microwave had been placed inside the bathtub. He later shared images of the damage online and reflected on the outcome, saying, “I really thought this time might be different. I was wrong.”

Chase’s family has since spoken publicly about his long-standing mental health and substance abuse struggles. His parents have said he has lived with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder for more than a decade and has repeatedly stopped taking prescribed medication or declined treatment.

Local outreach workers in Riverside have reportedly offered Chase housing, mental health support and drug treatment on multiple occasions, which he has refused. A GoFundMe campaign set up by a TikTok user raised more than USD 1,200, but Chase’s mother asked for it to be closed, stating, “Tylor needs medical attention, not money.”

Other former child actors, including Shaun Weiss, have also offered help. As of late December, Chase remains homeless in Southern California, with those close to him acknowledging the limits of what they can do.
