Kevin Costner and several producers associated with Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 have been named in a lawsuit seeking more than $400,000 in unpaid costume rental fees. The legal action was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Western Costume Leasing Company, a long-standing Hollywood costume rental business.
According to the complaint, the costume company provided period-appropriate wardrobe for the production, but claims it was not fully paid for the rentals. One invoice dated in 2024 reportedly totaled $134,256.82, and the lawsuit alleges additional unpaid balances related to the use and return of the costumes.
The suit seeks a combination of economic damages totaling $150,000, attorney’s fees of approximately $200,000, accrued interest of around $40,000, and $100,000 in punitive damages, pushing the total amount requested well beyond $400,000.
Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 is the second installment in Costner’s ambitious multi-film Western project. The franchise has faced several production and financial challenges, including delays in theatrical distribution. While the first chapter struggled at the box office, it later found a wider audience through digital platforms and festival screenings.
Costner, who directed, starred in, and helped finance the films, has previously stated that he personally invested a significant amount of money into the project. The lawsuit adds to the growing list of legal and logistical hurdles surrounding the Horizon series as its future release plans remain uncertain.
At this time, representatives for Costner and the production have not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
