Paramount+ is reportedly expanding its live action Sonic universe with a new television series in development. The claim follows the platform’s first Sonic spin-off, Knuckles, which premiered in 2024 as a streaming-exclusive project.

The report originates from industry scooper Daniel Richtman, who stated on X, “Another Sonic live-action show is in development for Paramount+.” No additional information was shared regarding the show’s premise, cast, or potential release timeline. Paramount has not confirmed the report at the time of writing.

If the project moves forward, it would mark another step in the continued growth of the Sonic franchise across film and television. Paramount previously found box office success with Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, before extending the property to streaming with Knuckles, led by Idris Elba as the titular character.

The reported television development comes as Paramount prepares several future Sonic projects. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has already been confirmed for a 2027 theatrical release. The studio has also dated an untitled Sonic universe event film for December 22, 2028, indicating plans for a long-term franchise roadmap.

While no official details have been announced, discussion has emerged around what the new series could focus on. One possibility is a continuation of Knuckles, potentially serving as a second season following Knuckles and Adam Pally’s Wade Whipple. Another option raised in fan discussions involves Shadow the Hedgehog, who made his live action debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, voiced by Keanu Reeves.

Shadow was last seen departing with Agent Stone, played by Lee Majdoub, leaving his future storyline open. Some speculation previously suggested his arc might continue in the 2028 film, though recent reporting has indicated that project will instead centre on a team-based story.

For now, Paramount has not issued any official statement regarding a new Sonic television series. The reported development remains unconfirmed pending further announcements from the studio.
