Idris Elba has reignited speculation about his potential future as James Bond after sharing a video filmed at Madame Tussauds that quickly drew attention from fans.

The actor posted the clip showing himself playfully interacting with wax figures at the London attraction.

Set to the familiar James Bond theme, the video follows a line of former 007 portrayals before ending with Elba standing at the far end. The deliberate framing prompted an immediate response online, with many viewers interpreting the moment as a knowing nod towards the long-running rumours linking him to the role following Daniel Craig’s departure.

Fans flooded the comments section with praise and encouragement. “Not just the bond we want… the bond we NEED,” one person wrote, while another added, “This is the Bond we want.” A third commented, “Ooh, don't get my hopes up, love!” The reaction underlined Elba’s enduring popularity as a prospective candidate for the iconic character.

The speculation comes at a time when Elba has been reflecting openly on the future of his career. Speaking earlier this month during a question-and-answer session at the Red Sea International Film Festival, he discussed plans to step back from acting in the long term. “I'm hoping that my fan base as an actor isn't mad at me, but eventually I want to transfer to be a director fully,” he said, explaining his desire to focus on filmmaking behind the camera.

Elba was attending the festival to promote his short film Dust To Dreams, his second directorial project following Yardie. Despite discussing retirement, his schedule remains full, with a sequel to Luther: The Fallen Sun reportedly in development.
