CBS has launched a nationwide 'Survivor' 50 challenge, hiding immunity idols in all 50 states ahead of 2026 premiere

CBS is marking the milestone 50th season of Survivor by extending the competition beyond television screens with a nationwide scavenger hunt set to run across all 50 states.

The Survivor 50 Challenge was announced by host and executive producer Jeff Probst and will culminate with the premiere of Survivor 50 on Wednesday, February 25 2026, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

The challenge begins on January 30 and transforms the United States into a large-scale, multi-week game inspired by the long-running reality competition.

As part of the activation, one official Survivor immunity idol will be hidden in each state, inviting participants to search for the iconic game item in their local communities.

According to CBS, the initiative is open to newcomers, longtime viewers and anyone interested in taking part. Participants will be required to follow clues, solve riddles and apply strategic thinking in order to locate the idols.

The challenge has been designed as a family-friendly activity and encourages fans to take part alongside friends and relatives.

Probst said the concept reflects the core elements of the series. “Survivor has always been about testing yourself – solving problems, facing the unknown and finding out what you’re made of,” he said.

“For 25 years, fans have watched players take that journey. Now, with the Survivor 50 Challenge, we’re letting fans try it for themselves! This goes way beyond finding idols, it’s a chance to step into the game like never before. America has watched players outwit, outplay and outlast for decades – now it’s your turn. The hunt is on. Time to dig deep!”

CBS has confirmed that fans can register and access further information through the official Survivor 50 Challenge website. Promotional material for the challenge has also been released as anticipation builds for the landmark season.

Survivor 50 follows the conclusion of season 49 and represents a significant milestone for the franchise, which has aired for more than two decades.
