Stolen motorcycle earns e-challan 32 months after it went missing

Questions have once again been raised over police efficiency after a motorcycle stolen more than two and a half years ago remains unrecovered—yet managed to earn an e-challan that was promptly delivered to its rightful owner.

The motorcycle was stolen on April 1, 2023, from Federal B Area Block 14. The owner reported the theft to the relevant police station, but despite the passage of 32 months, the vehicle has yet to be traced.

In a surprising turn of events, the affected citizen received an e-challan worth Rs5,000 at his home address. The fine stated that an unknown rider, without wearing a helmet, had passed through Punjab Chowrangi on the stolen motorcycle.

The owner expressed concern and disbelief, saying that while the police have been unable to recover the motorcycle, unknown individual appears to be using it freely across the city—confident enough to collect traffic violations along the way.

Following receipt of the e-challan, the citizen formally registered a case at Azizabad police station. The matter has now been handed over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) for further investigation.

Police officials said inquiries are under way and efforts are being made to recover the stolen motorcycle—hopefully before it qualifies for another traffic fine.
