TV sports reporter Christina Chambers and husband found dead in apparent murder-suicide, police say

An Alabama television sports reporter and her husband were found dead inside their home on Tuesday morning in what police believe was an apparent murder-suicide.
A 3-year-old child was also inside the residence and was not injured, authorities said.
The Hoover Police Department responded to a home in the 700 block of Highland Manor Court on December 16 after a family member called 911 around 9:03am to report two people unresponsive inside the house. Hoover Fire-Medics pronounced a man and a woman dead at the scene from gunshot wounds, police confirmed.
While authorities have not officially released the victims’ names, WBRC identified the woman as former sports reporter Christina Chambers. Police said a young child was found in the home and was unharmed.
In a statement, the Hoover Police Department said that although the investigation is still in its early stages, the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide and that there is no threat to the public.
Chambers, who married her husband in 2021, was a longtime presence in Alabama sports media. She worked at WBRC from 2015 until 2021, later returning as a freelance reporter during the 2025 football season.

She also served as director of the Broadcasting Academy at Thompson High School and worked in sports broadcasting across Alabama and Georgia earlier in her career.
Alabaster City Schools, where Chambers previously worked, remembered her as a dedicated educator who shared her professional experience with students and regularly contributed to live sports coverage. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, where she was also employed, described Chambers as a “cherished colleague” whose warmth and positive spirit left a lasting impact.
Tributes also came from public officials, including Alabama Sen. Katie Boyd Britt, who expressed condolences to Chambers’ family and loved ones.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
