LAHORE:

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kahna police station, Sub-Inspector Fahim Imdad, has been removed from his post and placed under departmental inquiry for alleged negligence in handling the recovery of a young woman's body later linked to the high-profile double murder case involving Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Muhammad Usman Haider Gujjar.

Sources said the action was taken after it emerged that the body of 19-year-old Khansa Usman, the DSP's daughter, was recovered from the Kahna area on September 27 but was not subjected to a post-mortem examination.

Police proceedings were conducted under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), treating the body as unidentified, and it was subsequently buried as unclaimed.

The matter resurfaced following the arrest of DSP Usman Haider last week.

He confessed to killing his first wife, Samia, and daughter, Khansa, on September 25 over a long-standing domestic dispute reportedly linked to a property deal.

At the time, Haider was posted as DSP Investigation, Kahna.

DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza Shah told reporters that the accused shot both victims inside his official vehicle near the Ring Road after a heated argument.

He then disposed of the bodies at different locations, Khansa's body in Kahna and Samia's in Sheikhupura.

In an apparent attempt to mislead investigators, Haider later lodged a false kidnapping report at Barki police station on September 27, claiming that his wife and daughter had gone missing.

The case remained unresolved for nearly three months until Haider's sister-in-law approached Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, raising suspicions about his involvement.

Following the confession, police exhumed both bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. The DSP's second wife has also been summoned for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
