Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, who had been married for 35 years, were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday

A police investigation into the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, has turned its attention to reported evidence found in a hotel room used by their son, Nick Reiner, who has been arrested in connection with the case.
According to reports, Nick Reiner, checked into The Pierside Santa Monica at around 4 am on Sunday, December 14, using his credit card. The check-in reportedly took place several hours after an alleged argument between Nick and his father at a Christmas party earlier that evening.
Staff later discovered what was described as a “trail of blood” in the hotel room, including blood on the bed and a shower that was “full of blood”, according to published accounts. Nick Reiner reportedly never formally checked out of the hotel.
Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, who had been married for 35 years, were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday. Their bodies were reportedly discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner. Reports state that both victims suffered lacerations “consistent with a knife”, and that their throats had been slit.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:15 pm on Sunday and was booked in the early hours of Monday, December 15. He has been charged with a felony in connection with his parents’ deaths and is being held without bail.
Nick Reiner has previously spoken publicly about long-standing struggles with substance abuse, which began in his teens. He later co-wrote the screenplay for Being Charlie, a film loosely inspired by those experiences and directed by his father.
