FWMC launches neighbourhood cleanliness competitions
As part of the ongoing "Sohna Faisalabad Festival" aimed at promoting cleanliness and fostering a sense of ownership among citizens, the Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) has launched an initiative to hold cleanliness competitions in various localities and colonies across the city.
In this regard, a "Muhalla Sajao Safai Committee" has been constituted to plan and oversee the initiative.
The committee is headed by the Chief Executive Officer, FWMC, as convener and includes representatives from the Local Government and Community Development Department, Municipal Corporation Faisalabad, Government College University Faisalabad, NFC Institute Faisalabad, and FWMC's district operations.
The committee will be responsible for planning and executing the 'Muhalla Sajao Safai' events, community engagement and awareness campaigns, coordination with field teams and relevant departments, monitoring sanitation activities, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
It will also prepare action plans, manage logistics, ensure deployment of sanitation staff and machinery, and arrange inauguration, inspection and closing ceremonies with proper media coverage and documentation.
FWMC Chief Executive Officer Rauf Ahmed said 10 colonies from different union councils and one village, Chak 4 JB Randiwali Arfa Kareem Nagar, had been selected for the cleanliness competitions.
Sub-committees comprising local notables have also been formed to organise and supervise the campaigns on a fast-track basis.

The selected areas include Raza Abad, Taj Colony, Gulistan Colony, Chak204 RB Canal Road, Tariq Abad, Fateh Abad, Small D Ground, Rehmania Road, Nazim Abad, Awami Colony and Jinnah Colony in urban areas, along with Chak 4 JB Arfa Kareem Nagar in the rural area to bridge the rural-urban divide.
