LAHORE:

The bodies of the wife and daughter of a police official who has confessed to their murder have been sent for post-mortem.

The second wife of the detained DSP has also been summoned for questioning.

DSP Usman Haider Gujjar was arrested on Saturday night and confessed during interrogation to killing his wife, Samia and 19-year-old daughter Khansa Usman over a domestic dispute linked to a property deal.

DIG of Investigation Zeeshan Raza Shah said while addressing a news conference that the murders had been committed on September 25 but remained undetected for nearly two months.

"The accused shot his wife and daughter inside his official vehicle near Ring Road, close to the airport, following an argument," DIG Shah said. "He later portrayed the incident as a kidnapping by lodging a false FIR to mislead investigators."

The case took a decisive turn after Haider's sister-in-law approached Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
