Tracy Reiner says she’s “in shock” after Rob Reiner and wife Michele’s deaths, as sources name brother Nick Reiner a suspect

Rob Reiner’s daughter Tracy Reiner has spoken publicly following the deaths of the legendary director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14.

“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy Reiner told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”

The 61-year-old actress, who was adopted by Rob Reiner during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall, said she had seen her father at a family gathering just one day before his death.

Authorities confirmed that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were discovered inside the couple’s Brentwood residence after emergency responders were called to the home around 3:30 p.m. local time for a medical aid request. A family spokesperson later confirmed the victims were Rob and Michele Reiner.

In a statement shared with Variety, the family said, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

The Los Angeles Police Department has classified the case as a homicide investigation. While the LAPD has not officially named a suspect, multiple sources have identified the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, as a suspect in the investigation. Authorities have emphasized that the case remains active and evolving.

Rob Reiner, an Emmy-winning actor and director, was known for an influential career that included films such as This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, and A Few Good Men. He was married to Michele Singer Reiner since 1989. Together, they shared four children: Tracy, Jake, Nick, and Romy Reiner.

Reiner was previously married to Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. Despite their divorce, the two remained close. Marshall died in 2018, and Reiner publicly honored her legacy at the time.

Following news of his death, tributes poured in from across Hollywood. Actor Ben Stiller described Reiner as one of his favorite directors, praising his impact on multiple generations of filmmakers and audiences.
