The show, hosted by Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez, had been on the air since 2012, with Darden previously hosting from 2004 to 2007. On X (formerly Twitter), Darden confirmed the show’s cancellation, stating, “It’s done. More to come. #EbroInTheMorning.” Rosenberg also reflected on the end of the program, describing it as a childhood dream realized and expressing excitement for what’s next.
Darden suggested that the show’s end was influenced by his outspoken political commentary, including criticisms of government policies and international leaders. He said Hot 97’s management may have prioritized corporate interests over his programming. Over the years, Darden and Rosenberg have frequently criticized Drake and other artists, which may explain the rapper’s gloating emoji response.
Drake’s reaction drew pushback from the hosts, with Darden calling the rapper “right-wing” and Rosenberg posting that Drake’s behavior made it hard to defend his work. Supporters of Drake, including fellow artist Bas, defended the rapper’s cultural contributions, emphasizing his support for diverse music genres and artists globally.
