Barry Keoghan is stepping into the world of Peaky Blinders as he leads a new generation of the gang in the upcoming film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The movie, set in 1940s Birmingham, expands the universe created by Steven Knight and continues the legacy established across six seasons of the hit series.

Keoghan, known for acclaimed performances in Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, appears in the film as a mysterious new character. While specific details about his role remain undisclosed, first-look images show him wearing the iconic flat cap as he leads a younger group of Peaky Blinders. “I feel like I shouldn’t be allowed to say it. It’s such an iconic line,” Keoghan joked when discussing the famous “By order of the Peaky Blinders” decree.

According to Keoghan, joining the film was an easy yes. He had previously worked with Cillian Murphy on Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and had nearly joined the TV series several times. This time, Murphy personally extended the invitation, revealing exactly which character he wanted Keoghan to portray. “Of course, bro. At the drop of a hat,” Keoghan recalled. “Anything to work with yourself again.”

Directed by Tom Harper, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man features returning contributors including creator Steven Knight and star Cillian Murphy. The film promises a fresh chapter for the franchise while honoring its established mythology.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man releases in cinemas on March 6 and will begin streaming on Netflix on March 20.
