Game Awards 2025 names Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Game of the Year as major announcements revealed

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025, where Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive’s title led the ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
The game also won Best Independent Game, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction and Best Debut Indie Game. Jennifer English received Best Performance for her portrayal of Maelle. The title entered the event with 12 nominations, the most in the show’s history, and concluded the night with nine wins.
Additional winners included Donkey Kong Bananza for Best Family Game, Hades II for Best Action Game, South of Midnight for Games for Impact, Hollow Knight: Silksong for Best Action/Adventure and HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 for Best Adaptation. No Man’s Sky won Best Ongoing Game, while Wuthering Waves won the Players’ Voice award.
Alongside the awards, the programme featured a wide range of announcements from major studios. Lucasfilm revealed Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic, developed by Casey Hudson. Larian Studios presented Divinity, described by the studio as its “biggest game” so far. Day 4 Night Studio showcased Bradley the Badger, featuring Evan Peters, and Capcom confirmed the return of Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem.
Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced two Lara Croft projects: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis for 2026 and Tomb Raider: Catalyst for 2027, with Alix Wilton Regan taking on the role of Lara Croft. Additional reveals included titles such as 4:Loop, Coven of the Chicken Foot, Ontos, Control: Resonant, Gang of Dragon and Forest3.
The ceremony also featured appearances from the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter film, Noah Centino, Jason Momoa, Orville Peck, David Dastmalchian and Callina Liang, who presented the award for Best Ongoing Game. The show included musical performances by Evanescence and The Game Awards Orchestra led by Lorne Balfe.
