In-N-Out skips ‘67’ on orders after viral ‘6-7’ trend takes over

The viral “6-7” trend has prompted In-N-Out Burger to remove the number “67” from customer orders, along with the number “69,” in many of its locations.

An employee at a Los Angeles store said the change was implemented about a month ago, surprising customers who had enjoyed hearing the number called out.

Online discussions first noted the shift on Reddit, with users pointing out that orders jumped from 66 directly to 68, skipping 67 entirely.

The term “6-7,” pronounced “six seven,” is often accompanied by a hand gesture where palms alternate in a juggling or weighing motion. The slang went viral online earlier this year and was even named Dictionary.com’s word of the year, despite debate over whether it qualifies as a word.

Dictionary.com described the selection as a “linguistic time capsule” reflecting current social trends, while admitting the meaning of “6-7” can be confusing.

The chain’s decision highlights the surprising ways online trends can influence everyday business operations, leaving some fans amused and others disappointed.
