At a December 7 NFL game at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium, Lena Dunham joined longtime friend Taylor Swift in the VIP suite to cheer on Travis Kelce and came away a confirmed Chiefs fan.

Dunham posted selfies from the game decked out in Chiefs gear alongside friend and producer Michael P. Cohen, writing “Love you @killatrav” in the caption and declaring the team her “first home team”, despite being a New York native currently living in London.

In her Instagram post, she joked that she’s “in her sports era”, even calling out her stylist by name: “If you see me in a new piece of Chiefs merch every day for the next 17 months, blame @handler.official and keep moving.”

Dunham’s appearance at the stadium ties into a long friendship with Taylor Swift, dating back more than a decade. Over the years, she has spoken admiringly about Swift’s personality and artistry and called her kind, devoted, introspective, and emotional, praising how she’s embraced her voice and identity as an artist and public figure.

With Dunham’s public endorsement of Kelce and the Chiefs, it seems that Swift’s circle of friends is increasingly rallying behind the NFL star and perhaps finding new appreciation for football along the way.
