The District Health Authority (DHA) has declared 2025 as the most controlled year in terms of dengue cases, citing a zero death rate and complete recovery of all patients.

The authority also issued the schedule for continued dengue surveillance for next year, while acknowledging outstanding performers with certificates and shields.

According to details, the DHA categorised 2025 as a "controlled" dengue year, while 2024 was marked as grey and 2023 as red - indicating a year of severe dengue intensity.

This year, 25,690 individuals underwent dengue screening, of whom 1,576 tested positive. All patients were treated in hospitals and recovered fully, with no dengue-related deaths reported.

During the anti-dengue campaign, 4,852 FIRs were registered against violators of dengue SOPs, numerous buildings were sealed and heavy fines were imposed.

A formal ceremony was held to honour outstanding performers of the dengue campaign.

Entomologists, health inspectors and public health workers were awarded certificates, while social figures who cooperated with the campaign were presented shields. Special recognition was given to Health Inspectors Maskeenullah and Khabib Satti.

Punjab Assembly member and Parliamentary Secretary for Health Asma Naz Abbasi, Chief Executive DHA Dr Ehsan Ghani, District Health Officer Preventive Dr Hafiz Muhammad Jawad and DHO Dr Hussain Shah Tirmizi distributed the awards.

Dr Ehsan Ghani said that while 2025 had been declared a dengue-controlled year, dengue surveillance for the upcoming year had already begun.

He said all resources and capabilities would once again be utilised as a team to keep dengue under control.
