Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande earn back-to-back Golden Globe nominations for Wicked: For Good

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande continue their strong awards-season momentum.
The pair earned back-to-back Golden Globe nominations for their performances in Wicked: For Good, the second installment of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.The movie premiered in theatres last month and has already become a major conversation point across the awards landscape.
Erivo received a nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role as Elphaba. Her nomination is historic, making her the first Black woman to be nominated twice in this category. Grande earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Glinda, marking her second consecutive recognition following last year’s nod for Wicked.
While Wicked: For Good did not land a spot in the highly competitive Best Picture – Musical or Comedy category, it still secured a nomination for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, highlighting its strong commercial impact. Composer Stephen Schwartz also received dual nominations for the new original songs “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble.”
The Golden Globes lineup features additional titles with stage connections. The Lorenz Hart biopic Blue Moon earned a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, with Ethan Hawke recognized for his lead role. The Shakespeare-inspired drama Hamnet scored multiple nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Drama and recognition for director Chloé Zhao, screenwriter Maggie O’Farrell, and star Jessie Buckley.
In television categories, stage veterans Steve Martin and Martin Short earned more nominations for Only Murders in the Building, while Sarah Snook, Michelle Williams, and Carrie Coon also received honors.
Winners will be announced January 11, 2026, during the live Golden Globes broadcast on CBS.
