Right-wing political commentator Tim Pool said gunfire was directed at his Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, residence late on Dec. 5, according to statements he posted on X. Pool claimed a vehicle approached his property and “opened fire,” though he confirmed that no one was injured.

Pool, who lives at the home with his wife, producer Alison Neubauer, said his security staff is reviewing the footage and preparing a report for law enforcement. He added that he believes the incident may have been intended to intimidate him but suggested that the presence of armed guards and a security gate may have prevented something more serious.

“This is the price we pay for speaking out against evil,” Pool wrote in his initial post. He later suggested the shooting appeared to be an attempt to frighten him rather than a targeted assassination attempt.

Public figures in Pool’s political sphere expressed sympathy and alarm after he disclosed the shooting. Megyn Kelly commented that the situation was “awful” and said she was praying for Pool’s safety, while Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote that political violence “must” be condemned regardless of whom it targets.

Pool first gained national attention during the 2011 Occupy Wall Street protests through livestream coverage. In the years since, he has built a large online following by weighing in on topics such as immigration, the media, vaccines, and U.S. elections, including his ongoing support for Donald Trump.

The incident at Pool’s home comes during a year marked by several high-profile, politically charged attacks. These include the September shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a Utah Valley University campus event and a June attack in Minnesota in which two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses were targeted by a suspect impersonating law enforcement, resulting in the deaths of Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman and injuries to Sen. John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman.
