Discord launches first 'Checkpoint' year-end recap
Discord has launched its first year-end recap through the new Checkpoint feature, offering a detailed breakdown of how people used the platform throughout the year and mirroring the popularity of Spotify Wrapped and YouTube Recap.
Rolled out to users worldwide from December 4 2025, the company said Checkpoint will appear gradually over the following two days, with users required to update to the latest version of the app.
According to Discord, global users sent 744 billion messages and reactions across the platform in 2025. The feature also offers personal statistics, including messages sent, time spent in voice channels and the servers where users were most active.
It also identifies each user's most frequent contact and lists their five most-played games of the year. The platform noted that more than 200 million people used Discord monthly in 2025.
The global data places the red heart as 2025's most-used emoji, followed by the sobbing face and joy face emojis. The fire emoji entered the top five for the first time, while the green checkmark rounded out the list.
Discord said the gradual rollout means some users may see their recap appear later than others, with each user receiving one of 10 Checkpoint cards based on activity, paired with an avatar decoration available until January 15 2026.
Discord's most-played game of 2025 remains 'League of Legends', extending a run that has lasted 16 years. Other widely played titles include 'Rematch', 'R.E.P.O.', 'Marvel Rivals', 'Minecraft' and 'Genshin Impact'.
