The Special Court of Anti-Terrorism Peshawar has ordered the attachment of salaries of the Director General Excise and seven officials for failing to comply with repeated court directives in a pending narcotics case.
ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan issued formal instructions to the Accountant General's Office to suspend and attach the monthly salaries of the DG Excise and the seven officials concerned. The directive was issued after the court observed persistent non-compliance with summons issued to the prosecution witnesses.
The court noted in its official communication that a narcotics case has been under trial since December 7, 2024. Seven personnel from the Excise Police Station have been listed as prosecution witnesses in the case. Despite multiple notices, none of the witnesses appeared before the court. A notice was also sent to the DG Excise & Taxation Department, but no action followed.
The order stated that the prolonged absence of witnesses was causing unnecessary delay in the trial proceedings. The court therefore requested the Accountant General's Office to immediately attach the salaries of all eight officials to ensure compliance with judicial orders.
