Gillian McKeith has opened up about one of the most memorable moments from her time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, clarifying what really happened when she fainted during a live Bushtucker trial.

The TV nutritionist and author, best known for You Are What You Eat, appeared on the show in 2010 and quickly became a fan favorite, especially for being nominated for multiple trials.

She is most remembered for the “Un-fair Ground” challenge, where she collapsed mid-trial, prompting the show to cut to an ad break while medics attended to her. Olympic gold medalist Linford Christie ultimately replaced her in the challenge.

For years, rumors circulated that McKeith had faked the fainting episode to avoid the trial, but she has now set the record straight.

In an interview with The Independent, she explained that she has a history of fainting since childhood. “The day before we did the live trial, I hadn’t had much to eat and I wasn’t feeling very well – which is the precursor to passing out,” she said.

McKeith’s revelation has provided clarity for fans and confirmed that the incident was medical, not staged.

Despite the ordeal, she remains a beloved figure from her season, remembered for her determination and unique personality in the jungle.

The episode continues to be cited as one of the most dramatic moments in I’m A Celebrity history, illustrating the physical and emotional challenges contestants face during the live trials.
