A third Afghan national has been arrested in the United States for providing "material support to ISIS-K," days after another Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, shot two National Guard soldiers near the White House, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

The arrested individual, Jaan Shah Shafi, entered the US in 2021 under former president Joe Biden's Operation Allies Welcome. According to DHS, Shafi "provided support to ISIS-K and also supplied weapons to his father, who is a commander of a militia group in Afghanistan."
