'Gurdwara Punja Sahib symbol of interfaith harmony'
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said that the Gurdwara Punja Sahib symbol of interfaith harmony.
They were visiting the historic Gurdwara Punja Sahib in Hassan Abdal.
Upon their arrival, both dignitaries were warmly received with a traditional shower of rose petals. Representatives of the Sikh community and several government officials were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, High Commissioner Marriott met members of the Sikh community, who presented her with a traditional Saropa as a gesture of goodwill.
She expressed keen interest in the historical and religious significance of Gurdwara Punja Sahib, remarking, "Visiting this sacred place has given me a wonderful opportunity to understand the traditions, devotion, and culture of the Sikh community more closely. The people here are incredibly warm and respectful."
Speaking to the media, Provincial Minister Arora said the visit of the British High Commissioner symbolises interfaith harmony and reflects Pakistan's commitment to promoting religious tolerance.
"Protecting the rights of minorities, ensuring complete religious freedom, and working for their welfare is a clear vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab," he said.
He added that the purpose of "National Commission 2025" is to eliminate the sense of deprivation among minorities, empower them socio-economically, and ensure their active participation in national decision-making.
