Scarlett Johansson is officially joining the cast of The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero.

Johansson’s involvement has prompted widespread speculation about which character she will portray in Gotham City, as Reeves’ grounded approach allows for both comic book adaptations and new interpretations.

Fans and industry observers have suggested several possibilities for Johansson’s role. One prominent theory is that she could play Poison Ivy (Pamela Isley), reimagined as an eco-terrorist rather than a superpowered villain. Another potential character is Silver St. Cloud, a socialite and love interest for Bruce Wayne, who could guide him through Gotham society while exploring his civilian life.

Johansson may also take on a dual role inspired by Andrea Beaumont, also known as the Phantasm, from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

This would allow her to portray both a socialite and an action-driven antagonist with connections to Batman’s past. Other suggested characters include Gilda Dent (Holiday) and a gender-flipped version of Dr. Hugo Strange, a psychologist who could explore Batman’s mind, though Reeves’ previous films have already introduced similar characters.

Johansson reportedly requested to join the project after hearing that Emma Stone had passed on the role, signaling her strong interest in the DC Universe. While official confirmation of her character has not been released, fans are eagerly awaiting casting announcements.

The Batman Part II continues Reeves’ exploration of a darker, realistic Gotham while expanding the universe with new characters and storylines. Johansson’s casting adds significant star power and raises expectations for the upcoming 2026 release.
