Prince Harry appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on December 3 in a comedic segment centred on made-for-TV Christmas movies.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, joined Colbert during a discussion about the many Hallmark-style films featuring Americans falling in love with royalty.
Colbert opened the segment noting that such films give viewers “unrealistic expectations” of meeting a prince or princess during the holidays. Harry then interrupted, pretending to audition for a Hallmark film titled The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.
During the sketch, Harry asked Colbert what a real prince needed to do to secure a role, and Colbert suggested that inside connections were essential. Harry jokingly referenced his wife Meghan Markle, saying, “I might know one,” before adding he would do “anything” to land a part, including recording a self-tape or flying to an audition.
The playful sketch escalated with fake snow and a staged near-kiss between Harry and Colbert. At the end, Colbert removed his glasses and officially declared Harry the “Late Show prince of Christmas.”
Ahead of the episode, Colbert teased Harry’s appearance with a social media clip set to a viral Great British Bake Off sound bite, in which Harry imitated co-host Alison Hammond. Earlier on December 3, Harry also appeared in Meghan Markle’s Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, helping prepare her mother Doria Ragland’s Christmas Eve gumbo alongside Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.
Fans of the royal couple and viewers of The Late Show praised the segment for its humour and festive theme, highlighting Harry’s playful side while promoting the holiday season.
The appearance follows Harry’s ongoing involvement in Christmas-themed projects alongside Meghan Markle.
