Kim Kardashian became emotional as she recalled the moment Kanye West claimed she had “faked” her 2016 Paris robbery, a remark she described as deeply hurtful in the latest episode of The Kardashians.

The episode followed her return to Paris to testify in the trial of the ten people accused of robbing her at gunpoint nearly a decade ago.

In a confessional, Kardashian said, “My ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’ and had said that in front of all these people. That was a knife to my heart.”

She added that the disbelief from someone so close to her was profoundly unsettling. “Just to think that someone wouldn’t believe you, that’s so close to you, that should know you, that should know how much that affected your life, it just really bothered me. You don’t know who I am.”

West, who was married to Kardashian at the time of the robbery, cancelled a New York City concert citing a “family emergency” and met her when she returned to the United States. During the heist, Kardashian was tied up, held at gunpoint and robbed of jewellery worth more than $10 million.

Reflecting on her time in court, she said, “To finally be able to go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I’m like, see, guys. It was real.” She then added through tears, “I’m happy it’s over.”

Kardashian also spoke about the fear she felt when the robbers entered her Paris hotel room dressed as police officers. During her testimony, she explained, “I was sure I was going to be raped.”

Supported by her mother Kris Jenner and childhood friend Simone Harouche, Kardashian approached the trial with a sense of closure. She said the ordeal lasted less than ten minutes but will not define her life. Returning to her hotel after testifying, she told Kris the experience “changed my life for the better.”

New episodes of The Kardashians stream Thursdays on Hulu.
