Youth urged to lead climate adaptation, community action
Speakers at a district-level event spotlighted the crucial role of young people in advancing climate adaptation and driving social change at the grassroots level. They stressed that increased investment in youth-led initiatives is essential to counter rising temperatures, environmental degradation, and growing climate vulnerabilities across the district.
The Sindh Community Foundation (SCF), with support from the British Council, organised district community events under the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative (PYLI) at a local hall in Mirpurkhas. The gathering brought together youth groups, civil society organisations (CSOs), government officials, and community members to highlight innovative, youth-driven solutions for climate resilience and inclusive development.
The full-day programme featured interactive and youth-led sessions. A key session - conducted by Zara, Nimara, Aftab Ahmed, and Muhammad Naqeeb, and moderated by Tamour Ali Khan - focused on leadership, community engagement, and the importance of youth participation in climate action.
