Christopher Musick, 57, of Daytona Beach, Florida, has been arrested in connection with an alleged mortgage fraud scheme in Volusia County.

Authorities say he posed as a real estate investor, forged documents to claim ownership of multiple commercial properties, and took out mortgages that were never repaid, using the funds to acquire additional buildings and collect rental income.

Musick, who has ten prior convictions and two outstanding warrants in Maryland, faces charges including organized scheme to defraud, grand theft over $100,000, and forgery.

He is being held on a $225,000 bond, according to county inmate records.

Adding an unusual element to the case, Musick’s Daytona Beach home had a doormat that read, “come back with a warrant.”

Volusia County detectives later executed a search warrant at the residence. “After interviewing Musick, detectives established probable cause to execute a search warrant at his residence, thereby satisfying the doormat’s request,” the sheriff’s office said.

The case is part of a long line of unusual incidents reported in Florida, a state known for its eccentric criminal news stories.
