The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has approved a state-of-the-art, European-style paragliding club, described as an "aerial swimming" facility, on the summit of Chevra, a strikingly rugged and scenic highland area in Kotli Sattian, the second major mountainous tehsil of the newly established tourist district of Murree.
The project will cost Rs206 million. Alongside the paragliding club, the development will include gliding pods, a tree house, a paragliding equipment store, a kitchen, a café, tuck shops, a parking area, a jogging track, state-of-the-art selfie points for visitors, washrooms, specially designed benches throughout the site, a restaurant, and a waiting room. Funds for the project have already been released.
The scheme is scheduled for completion within one year. Tenders will be opened on December 16, and the contract will be awarded the same day. Implementation will begin on January 1, 2026 and is expected to conclude on December 31, 2026, with the site becoming fully operational and open to tourists between January 10 and 15, 2027. A grand cultural festival will mark the inauguration, to which the people of Potohar will be invited.
From this gliding zone, visitors will be able to enjoy distant, telescope-assisted views of Rawal Dam, Mangla Dam, and the Line of Control between Pakistan and Indian-administered Kashmir. The mountains of Kotli Sattian exceed even Murree in elevation, comprising areas of stark, black, craggy rock as well as expanses lush with wildflowers, plants, and towering trees.
To improve access from the Kotli Sattian-Murree Road, a two-lane approach road will be constructed, flanked by ornamental lighting and extensive tree planting, including all varieties of fruit trees. Additional plantation, including flowers, shrubs, and trees, will also be carried out within the paragliding zone itself.
