Whitney Leavitt is set to make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago following her recent departure from Dancing with the Stars.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member announced on December 1 that she will join the long-running musical at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City from February 2 to March 15.
Despite strong performances, she did not progress to the finals after falling short in viewer votes, with wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin winning the Mirrorball trophy.
Leavitt discussed her experience on the podcast Call Her Daddy, where she and her professional partner Mark Ballas performed their final dance. Speaking to host Alex Cooper, she said she anticipated a difficult journey with fans.
“I am used to the hate… I just didn't think I was going to make it that far in Dancing with the Stars because I already knew the persona that I had in the media,” she said. “So I didn't think people were going to really vote for me.”
Her upcoming role in Chicago ties naturally to her time on Dancing with the Stars, where she and Ballas performed an Argentine Tango to “Cell Block Tango,” one of the musical’s signature numbers. Her involvement aligns with a broader Broadway trend of casting well-known figures for limited engagements.
Leavitt joins a list of previous celebrity Roxie Hart performers, including Ariana Maddix, Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna and Melanie Griffith.
