Dominic McLaughlin who stars in HBO‘s upcoming Harry Potter series has shared his reaction to receiving a letter from Daniel Radcliffe.

The 11-year-old, who is set to play the titular wizard in the latest adaptation of JK Rowling’s popular book series, revealed that he was given the letter while he was travelling home on a train to Glasgow.

“It was insane,” he said whilst speaking on the BBC show Saturday Mash-Up! Live.

“My Dad tapped me on the train and just gave me this letter. I read it and then I got to the bottom, and it said, ‘Dan R.’ I was going mad, but I had to [keep cool]. I was on the train.”

Previously, Radcliffe, who played the role of the wizard in the movies, shared that he had written a letter to McLaughlin. “I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them,” he said, adding that he hopes "they’re having a great time.”

McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton were announced as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger earlier this year, after 32,000 kids auditioned for these roles.

On the show, McLaughlin also offered updates about the progress of filming and shared that, “it’s going amazing, it’s going really well. I’ve made good friends with everyone, it’s great to be there.”
