Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are reportedly considering a return to the United States, with insiders suggesting the couple may relocate to California “sooner rather than later” after spending over a year living in the United Kingdom.

According to claims made to The Mail on Sunday, the pair are weighing the possibility of moving back at least part-time.

Sources said DeGeneres and de Rossi are missing their social circle and are finding the British winters difficult. The insider explained that DeGeneres had previously been firm about remaining in the UK during Donald Trump’s presidency, but noted that “she’s changed her mind somewhat.”

The source added, “She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again. They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it.”

The insider also claimed, “Ellen was very clear that they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later. They miss the warm weather and their friends.”

DeGeneres and de Rossi relocated to the UK shortly after the 2024 US presidential election, describing the move as a direct response to the political outcome. DeGeneres previously recounted their decision, saying they arrived in the UK the day before the election and woke to messages from friends.

“I was like, ‘He got in.’ And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’” She added that she had experienced snow for the first time after arriving and spoke about their rural lifestyle, including caring for horses, chickens and sheep.

The couple’s long relationship began after meeting in 2001 and reconnecting in 2004. They married in August 2008.

While reports suggest a return to California is likely, neither DeGeneres nor de Rossi has publicly confirmed any plans regarding a potential move.
