Tara Reid has stepped forward with a detailed account of a frightening night in Illinois that left her briefly hospitalised and determined to see her case taken seriously. The actress said she is willing to prosecute after filing a police report in Rosemont, where officers confirmed they are investigating her claim that her drink was drugged at a hotel bar.

Reid had travelled to the Chicago area for a celebrity signing event and stopped at the hotel bar the night before the appearance. She described the lobby as crowded with people she believed were internet personalities with their phones out as if recording everything around them. She said the atmosphere felt unusual yet she tried to carry on with her evening. After ordering a glass of wine, she said a man approached her and introduced himself as a well known online creator who was part of the group in the lobby. They spoke, exchanged numbers and stepped outside for a cigarette before returning to the bar.

Reid said she noticed a napkin placed over her drink when she returned to her seat. She recalled taking a sip and seeing a couple nearby and then her memory vanished. The next thing she remembered was waking up in hospital more than eight hours later with no understanding of how she got there. She said her agent eventually located her and collected her after hospital staff told her she was free to leave without any forms or discharge papers.

In her statement, Reid said the same influencer later sent her videos of her at the hotel in the aftermath of the incident. Footage later published by TMZ showed her slurring her words and slipping from a wheelchair before paramedics transported her. Reid said she believed the influencer was attempting to control the release of the videos. She also said he confirmed she called security on him and that she had consumed only one drink.

Despite the ordeal, Reid attended the scheduled autograph event the following day. An organiser said she arrived late but remained polite and met every fan who had paid for her time.
