Toby Wallace joins Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed live-action series as co-lead
Netflix’s long-awaited Assassin’s Creed live-action series has taken a major step forward with the casting of Toby Wallace as its co-lead.
Wallace, known for his roles in Euphoria, The Bikeriders, and the Hulu series Pistol, is the first officially confirmed series regular in the adaptation of Ubisoft’s global blockbuster video game franchise.
The series is described as a high-octane thriller that explores the centuries-long secret war between two opposing factions — one seeking control of humanity’s future through manipulation, and the other fighting to protect free will. While inspired by the games, the Netflix adaptation will feature original characters navigating pivotal historical events as they work to shape the fate of civilization. Wallace’s character details remain under wraps.
The Assassin’s Creed series stems from a 2020 partnership between Netflix and Ubisoft Film & Television. Production is expected to begin in 2026 in Italy, which will serve as a primary setting. The exact historical era featured in the show has not yet been revealed, in keeping with the franchise’s tradition of spanning multiple time periods.
Roberto Patino and David Wiener will serve as showrunners and executive producers, joined by Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones, and Matt O’Toole.
With more than 230 million units sold, Assassin’s Creed remains one of the best-selling video game franchises in history. Wallace’s casting marks his return to Netflix after starring in the 2019 drama The Society. He recently wrapped filming for Euphoria Season 3 and has built a strong feature résumé including roles in Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders and Ron Howard’s Eden.
