Erika Kirk says she hoped she was pregnant after husband Charlie Kirk’s killing
Erika Kirk says she prayed for a final pregnancy after her husband’s assassination

Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, says she prayed she was pregnant in the days after her husband was killed, reflecting on the family plans the couple had hoped to pursue.
Speaking in an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, Kirk said she briefly wondered whether she might be carrying another child after the 31-year-old was assassinated while speaking with students at Utah Valley University in September. She later confirmed she was not pregnant.
Kirk, 36, said she and her husband had looked forward to expanding their family beyond their two young children, ages 3 and 1.
“We were really excited to expand our family,” she said, adding that the couple had talked about having four children. “I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered… that would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.”

During the interview, she also encouraged young couples who want children to avoid delaying plans for parenthood. Kirk said she routinely shares this advice with others, particularly women, emphasizing that careers can be restarted but the window for having children is more limited.
“You can always have a career,” she said. “You can’t just go back to having children, and they grow so fast.”
Since her husband’s death, Kirk has taken part in several public events honoring him, including a White House ceremony awarding him the Medal of Freedom.
