According to online commentary, he had reportedly consumed a few beers beforehand, and many social media users noted that golfers often step into the nearest cover during long rounds. For those commentators, the incident was an unremarkable and familiar occurrence on the course.
However, much of the discussion shifted away from Bieber’s behaviour and towards concerns about privacy. Several users questioned why a photographer chose to follow and document what was widely viewed as a private moment. One user wrote, “So the camera man followed him to relieve himself, Naa that's a lawsuit right there.” Another commented, “So hes like every other golfer then??.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, arguing that the act of photographing the moment was more troubling than the act itself.
Following the brief interruption, Bieber was seen continuing his game without hesitation, treating the stop as a routine pause between shots.
According to California law, the offense is considered a misdemeanor that can warrant $1,000 in fines and/or up to six months in jail. However, it is yet to be determined whether Bieber was on a public course.
The incident also surfaced amid conversation around Hailey Bieber’s 29th birthday. While Justin did not post a public tribute, Hailey later shared an Instagram carousel captioned “best week ringing in 29,” including her husband, signalling that the pair had celebrated quietly despite speculation.
